The Wu-Tang Clan is going digital yet again, with the release of a new video game that will transport players to the world of Shaolin.

At this year’s Summer Game Fest, famed rap group the Wu-Tang Clan announced their latest cultural venture: Wu-Tang: Rise of the Deceiver, an action-packed cooperative RPG created by Brass Lion Entertainment.

The game offers a blend of hip-hop, mythology, and immersive gameplay, including iconic Wu-Tang tracks and unique music composed by Just Blaze, a renowned producer and video game aficionado.

Wu-Tang: Rise of the Deceiver was originally planned as a companion piece to Angel of Dust, an impending supernatural horror film produced by Ghostface Killah and directed by RZA for AOD Films.

The game will allow up to four players to battle through a fictitious version of Shaolin, facing up against The Deceiver, a terrifying opponent who serves as the game’s ultimate boss. Rise of the Deceiver’s gameplay and narrative strive to elaborate on the film’s themes and dark mystique.

“Creating Angel of Dust has been an incredible journey,” Ghostface Killah stated in a release. “Bringing the story to life on film was only the beginning. With the production of the video game, we are immersing fans even further into this supernatural thriller environment.”

He went on, saying, “It’s about combining music, storytelling, and interactive experiences. I can’t wait for fans to explore the darkness and uncover what lies beneath.”

This is the Wu-Tang Clan’s first major video game endeavor in over 20 years, following the cult classic 1999 title Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style. That game, which had all nine original members as playable fighters, broke new ground by bringing hip-hop culture directly into the gaming world. It has since become a nostalgic treasure for aficionados of rap and retro gaming.

Wu-Tang: Rise of the Deceiver will be released on PC first, with platform versions following later. Although no official debut date has been announced, enthusiasm is already rising in both the gaming and music industries.

Ghostface earlier expressed his delight about the film and gaming partnership, saying, “It’s a blessing to partner with Oscar-nominated producer Shaun Redick and Impossible Dream Entertainment, and to be doing business with my brother RZA directing is a dream come true.” “Putting all these brilliant minds together will be legendary.”

RZA reiterated the sentiment: “RZA and Ghostface’s artistic cooperation has stood the test of time through their music. Now that we have the opportunity to bring our creative talents together on the silver screen, I am ecstatic. “Bong Bong!”

Wu-Tang: Rise of the Deceiver, with its distinct blend of music, storyline, and action, is destined to become another iconic moment in the Clan’s gaming history.
