Another ‘gut-wrenching’ true crime documentary that puts audiences in tears is another Netflix masterpiece.
The only thing we can do now that the gloomy, chilly nights have arrived is wrap up on the couch, grab some chips, and spend the evening in front of the television.
Netflix has a documentary made by none other than actor Charlize Theron for those who prefer true crime, even though the holiday season is quickly approaching.
However, this documentary is not about Theron; rather, it is about Cathy Terkanian, a lady who gave birth in 1974 at the age of 17.
Terkanian chose to put her infant daughter, whom she called Alexis, up for adoption in the hopes of providing her with a better life. But when authorities approached her in 2010 and requested a DNA sample, her expectations that her daughter would be safer with a different family were dashed.
Terkanian was informed that authorities sought to determine whether the bones were those of her biological daughter after they were discovered in Wisconsin.
Only then did Terkanian discover that her daughter, now known as Aundria Bowman, had vanished in 1989 at the age of 14.
Terkanian, stunned, embarked on a quest to discover her daughter’s fate.

“I could feel something was wrong ‘in [her] bones,'” Terkanian says in the teaser for the documentary Into the Fire: The Lost Daughter.
After seeing the two-part series, viewers were left feeling surprised and moved; many took to social media to encourage others to watch the “gut-wrenching” episodes, calling it a “tearjerker.”
“A Mother’s instincts…chills down my spine,” a commenter commented on the Netflix Bangers page of LADbible.
“This was amazing the best thing on Netflix for a while,” another person said.“I finished viewing it today. “This documentary is the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen,” one person remarked, while another added, “Fabulous lots of twists and turns.”
Theron gave an explanation of her decision to assist in telling Terkanian’s tale in an interview with PEOPLE.
She stated: “Her tenacity, fortitude, and, to be honest, her badassness! She is a living example of the strength of parenting because she trusted her gut and never let anyone tell her no.
“This story felt ‘different’,” Theron continued, acknowledging that there is’so much real crime’ footage available to watch these days.
“A tale that discusses the difficulties of parenthood, adoption, and found family. It felt new and greatly needed, something you don’t see in this genre too frequently,” she added.
