For the last time, Tom Hardy’s Venom is making his way to the box office.
Sony’s “Venom: The Last Dance,” the concluding installment in the Spider-Man villain’s trilogy, has grossed $8.5 million in Thursday previews.
The threequel is expected to gross $65 million in its first weekend, the lowest debut of the trilogy, which includes the original 2018 film “Venom” and its 2021 sequel “Venom: Let There Be Carnage.” “The Last Dance” is expected to gross $180 million worldwide and has already grossed $35.8 million. Even though the “Venom” films do not crossover with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the MCU, they have proved to enthral ardent fans while being disliked among reviewers. The third film has a very low $120 production budget, so it is likely to recover that and more after this weekend and when other overseas countries release it.

The first film debuted with $10 million in previews before grossing $80 million in its opening weekend. It went on to gross an impressive $856 million worldwide, opening the path for a sequel and additional Spider-Man villain spinoffs. “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” exploded with $11.6 million in previews and a $90 million opening – despite the fact that many cinemas were closed due to the epidemic. It grew to $506 million globally.
Hardy and writer-director Kelly Marcel are now sending Venom out into the symbiote sunset with “The Last Dance.” Picking up immediately after “Let There Be Carnage,” Hardy’s Eddie Brock and his parasitic companion Venom are on the run from the US government and extraterrestrial creatures from Venom’s home planet. The cast features Juno Temple, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach, Stephen Graham, Cristo Fernandez, and others.
The Vatican-set thriller “Conclave,” featuring Ralph Fiennes as a cardinal tasked with deciding who would succeed the recently dead Pope, will also premiere this weekend. Its opening weekend is expected to be between $4 million and $6 million, with previews grossing $500,000.
