Daniel Platzman, Imagine Dragons’ drummer, has departed the band after almost a decade.

On Wednesday, the musician stated that he was leaving Radioactive to focus on film scoring.

“After an incredible journey of over a decade, I will be departing the amazing band that is Imagine Dragons,” he announced on his Facebook page. “I wanted to express my heartfelt gratitude to you, the fans, for your steadfast support and sharing the joy of music with me. Connecting with you all has undoubtedly been the highlight of this chapter.

“I’m happy to be able to share more shortly about the projects I’ve been working on over the past few months, all of which revolve around my biggest passion: film score and composition. I promise you will be the first to know. “Stay tuned.”

Platzman joined the pop-rock band, led by singer Dan Reynolds, just before they signed with Interscope Records in 2011. He took an indefinite vacation from the band last year before making his exit permanent with his position.

Bassist Ben McKee said, “I love you Platz! “Looking forward to making more Cat Boiz music in the future,” said Andrew Tolman, the band’s original drummer, alongside a slew of heart emojis.

The Believer hitmakers are now on the United States leg of their Loom World Tour, which is in support of Loom, their first album sans Platzman.

They have yet to react on his departure via their official social media platforms.
