J. Cole has finally retracted his recent trash on Kendrick Lamar.
During his final set at the fourth annual Dreamville Festival on Sunday (April 7), the North Carolina rapper expressed sorrow for releasing his “7 Minute Drill” tune, which appeared on his Might Delete Later EP just two days earlier.
“I almost had a relapse… “Y’all heard about the bazooka that was dropped on the game, right?” he asked a crowd of festivalgoers. He was referring to K. Dot’s blockbuster “Like That” verse, in which Lamar took aim at Drake and Cole. The “No Role Modelz” rapper then described how he felt pressured to answer, saying, “For the first time, I was tested. I got the world, and my n**gas are saying, ‘What are you going to do, Cole?'”

J. Cole also expressed his gratitude to Drizzy and Kendrick, confirming that he had no problem with the latter in the first place. “I was conflicted because I knew my heart and how I feel about my peers, these two n**gas that I’m honored to even stand by in this game, much alone seek their greatness. I was conflicted because I knew I didn’t actually feel that way. “But the world wants to see blood,” he explained. “I moved in a way that, spiritually, I feel bad.”
During his address, he also stated that Kendrick is one of the “greatest to ever touch a mic” and that he is ready for K. Dot’s next move. “That was the lamest and goofiest sh*t…” I pray that God would re-align my purpose and path,” he said. “I hope my n**ga didn’t actually feel this way. And if he did, my n**ga, I had my chin out. Take your best shot, and I’ll take that sh*t on the chin. Boy, do what you’re doing. It’s all good.
The speech concludes with the Born Sinner spitter concentrating on a bright future. “I hope you can forgive me for my mistake and allow me to return to my true path… So, with that said, I’d want to play a song that reminds me of getting on the right track and connecting with God,” he said before performing “Love Yourz.” Watch the entire speech above.

On the aforementioned “7 Minute Drill” single, Cole aimed at the Los Angeles native by saying that To Pimp A Butterfly “put n**gas to sleep,” referring to the infamous 2013 “Control” lyric, and more.
“I grew up in the ‘Ville, so I’m good when there’s tension.” He still does shows, but fell off like the Simpsons. Your first sh*t was great, and your last was heartbreaking. Your second sh*t put N**gas to sleep, but they gassed it. Your third sh*t was huge, and it was your prime. “I was trailin’ right behind, and I just now hit mine,” he says in verse one. “Now I’m top of the line, with a comfortable lead. How ironic, right after I got it, he wants something with me. Well, he caught me at the best time; hop up and see. Boy, I arrived here from bars, and there’s no dispute.”
The fourth edition of the 2024 Dreamville Festival was held on April 6-7 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Aside from head honcho Jermaine Cole, other headliners were SZA, Nicki Minaj, and 50 Cent, the latter of whom replaced Chris Brown.

Lil Yachty, ScHoolboy Q, Sexyy Red, Jeremih, Teezo Touchdown, Amaarae, Luh Tyler, Domani, Rema, Jeezy, Monica, Rae Sremmurd, Key Glock, TiaCorine, and Chase Shaku all performed for the crowd.
