Flavor Flav is attempting to assist Black families who have been displaced by the deadly Palisades and Eaton fires in Los Angeles.

On Monday, the rapper announced on social media that he has partnered with GoFundMe and the Black Music Action Coalition to host a fundraiser.

“So many of you have assisted in the aftermath of the LA fires, and so many of you have received assistance. But there are SO MANY more who desperately need your assistance,” he posted on Instagram. “It’s been inspiring to see so many people come together as one to lift each other up, and I just want to highlight one aspect of the larger LA community in dire need.”

Flavor Flav went on to say, “Not enough is being done for Black families and communities in the aftermath of the California wildfires. I’ve teamed up with GoFundMe and the Black Music Action Coalition to launch a single GoFundMe campaign to quickly assist individuals in need. I urge not only Black artists, musicians, and producers, but everyone, to band together and continue to aid people in severe need. Donate through the link in my bio.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the GoFundMe campaign had raised over $40,000. The fundraiser’s objective is to amp up “the collective efforts to generate funds in support of Black families as they navigate displacement, loss of income, grief, essential needs in the short-term as they seek to rebuild.”

“The Black community in Altadena has a rich, historic, and resilient legacy that spans multiple generations,” the GoFundMe description read. “They built the road for themselves by overcoming the Great Migration, segregation, redlining, and other obstacles to create a community where their families could develop, grow, and enjoy life together. Now, years later, they are facing an unspeakable catastrophe caused by the Los Angeles County wildfires.

Flavor Flav is one of several celebrities assisting Los Angeles people affected by the wildfires, which started on January 7 and damaged thousands of buildings and houses. Several artists are also scheduled to participate at FireAid, an upcoming benefit concert for the flames.
