Matthew Perry’s mother thinks the late “Friends” actor received a “premonition” just before his death.
“He went through a period, interestingly enough, just before he died when he was showing me one of his new houses,” Suzanne Morrison told Savannah Guthrie on Friday’s “Today” program.
“He approached me and said, ‘I love you so much, and I’m so happy to be with you now.’…” It was almost like a premonition.”
Morrison, who is married to veteran “Dateline” journalist Keith Morrison, said that she “didn’t think” much of her son’s lovely statement at the time, but she did find it somewhat peculiar.

“How long has it been since we last had a chat like that? “It’s been years,” she recalls thinking to herself.
“I think there was something; there was an inevitability to what was going to happen next to him, and he felt it very strongly,” she said. “But he said, ‘I’m not frightened anymore,’ and it worried me.”
Guthrie’s complete interview with Suzanne, Keith, and other members of Perry’s family is set to run on “Today” next Monday, the first anniversary of the comedy star’s tragic death.
Perry died in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home on October 28, 2023. He was 54.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office later determined that his death was caused by acute ketamine effects, with drowning and coronary artery disease contributing causes.
Prior to his death, Perry had publicly claimed that he was clean after decades of addiction.
However, at a news conference in August, LA prosecutors said that the Emmy nominee had relapsed and was “spiraling out of control” due to his unsupervised use of ketamine, a dissociative anesthetic used to treat depression and pain.
Perry’s personal assistant, physicians, and a drug dealer known as the “Ketamine Queen” were later indicted in connection with his murder.
