Mariah Carey stated that her mother and sister died on the same day over the weekend.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In a statement to People, Carey revealed the tragic news about her mother, Patricia, and sister, Alison, while reflecting on their final moments together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“My heart is devastated since I lost my mother this past weekend. Unfortunately, my sister passed away on the same day,” the 55-year-old Grammy winner confessed. “I consider myself fortunate to have had the opportunity to spend the final week with my mother before her death. I am grateful for everyone’s kindness, support, and respect for my privacy during this difficult time.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carey had a tumultuous connection with both her mother and her sister, Alison, who frequently shared her frustrations with her famous sister over the years. In 2016, Alison sent a video to The Daily Mail requesting a reunion with Mariah as well as financial support to cover medical expenses. Alison battled addiction for many years and tested positive for HIV.<\/p>\n\n\n
