Elton John is apparently preparing to deliver a “surprise” new album in the coming weeks.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In July of last year, Sir Elton performed his farewell ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ event in Stockholm, Sweden. Although he has finished performing, it appears that he still has some other ambitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bernie Taupin, the musician’s friend and co-writer, has confirmed that the singer’s 32nd studio album is “done”. According to Music News, Taupin made the comments during ‘The Other Songs Live’, saying: “Elton and I have an album coming out very soon, but I daren’t say anything about it since I’m under strong orders to keep quiet. It’s completely finished and recorded.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taupin hinted that the album would “surprise” and “excite” people, saying, “I think it’s quite brilliant and quite contemporary, and it will certainly surprise and excite a lot of people, and hopefully be successful.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A source spoke with Elton John in 2021, and he shared his opinions on what the future held for him, noting that Taupin had offered him material: “I will do records and my radio show, but what about schlepping and playing shows? I’ve received enough applause. I want to be with my family. I want to be with my boys. I will continue to be creative, but I do not want to spend the rest of my life flying here and there. I can’t do any more than I have already done, and aside from the occasional charity event, that’s it for me.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also told NME that he wasn’t “interested in the past – not even Elton John’s past”: “I know I have to sing what I do onstage, but I very rarely go back and listen to my own records.” I am more interested in hearing anything fresh.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

John last published ‘Regimental Sgt. Zippo’ in 2021, which was supposed to be his debut album. In October 2020, he released the album’s title single, followed by the album itself on Record Store Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also released the covers album ‘The Lockdown Sessions’ in 2021, which NME praised with four stars: “All in all, ‘The Lockdown Sessions’ all-bets-off stylistic game of spin-the-bottle feels attuned to 2021’s post-genre Spotify world, as Elton continues to expand his musical universe.” The Rocketman stays in space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We saw John’s incredible Glastonbury headline performance and gave it five stars: “It was a Glasto show for the ages from a true all-time great. We will never see his kind again. “So long, Rocketman, and thank you.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In other developments, Elton John is said to be working on two musicals and is “open to any great ideas”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
