The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) has taken action in conjunction with several intermediaries to block 18 OTT sites that distribute obscene, vulgar, and, in certain cases, pornographic content. <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In India, 19 websites, 10 applications (7 on Google Play and 3 on Apple App Store), and 57 social media accounts affiliated with these platforms have been made inaccessible to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dreams Films, Voovi, Yessma, Uncut Adda, Tri Flicks, X Prime, Neon X VIP, Besharams, Hunters, Rabbit, Xtramood, Newflix, MoodX, Mojflix, Hotshots, IP, Fugi, Chikooflix, and Primeplay have all stopped broadcasting content as a result of the decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“A considerable portion of the content offered on these platforms was determined to be obscene, profane, and depicted women in humiliating ways. It featured nudity and sexual behaviors in a variety of unsuitable situations, including teacher-student interactions and incestuous family relationships. The content contained sexual innuendos and, in some cases, lengthy parts of pornographic and sexually explicit sequences with no thematic or cultural value.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The content was found to be prima facie in violation of Sections 67 and 67A of the IT Act, Section 292 of the IPC, and Section 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act of 1986.<\/p>\n\n\n

The latest decision was made in accordance with the requirements of the Information Technology Act of 2000, after consultation with other Ministries\/Departments of the Government of India. As well as domain experts in media and entertainment, women’s rights, and child rights.<\/h6>\n\n\n\n
