Queen Latifah will host the 55th NAACP Image Awards on Saturday, March 16, which will be broadcast live on BET and CBS and streamed on Paramount Plus. Latifah leads the cast of CBS’ The Equalizer and serves as an executive producer.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

She also hosted the awards in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n

Amanda Gorman, a poet and activist, will receive the Chairman’s Award during the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are particularly excited to celebrate changemaker and poet Amanda Gorman for her significant cultural influence,” said Connie Orlando, BET’s executive vice president of specials, music programming, and music strategy. “Queen Latifah, NAACP and Pastis have been such incredible partners in amplifying Black culture, excellence, creativity and ingenuity, and this year’s unforgettable show will be no different.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NAACP Image Awards honor the most outstanding Black figures in television, cinema, literature, and music, among other categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The NAACP Image Awards are a vital annual celebration for our community and industry. Derrick Johnson, NAACP president and CEO, stated, “We have the opportunity to highlight the major accomplishments of artists, writers, entertainers, activists, and other changemakers who propel Black excellence forward in a powerful way.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gorman spoke at the 2021 presidential inauguration. Her publications include Change Sings and Call Us What We Carry. Previous winners of the Chairman’s Award include Samuel L. Jackson, Ruby Dee, Danny Glover, and Tyler Perry.<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Queen Latifah’s filmography includes Jungle Fever, The Secret Life of Bees, Girls Trip, and Hairspray. Her television credits include Living Single and The Queen Latifah Show. She has six Grammys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
