Jim Carrey’s attempts to sell his luxurious California mansion have spanned a year.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Despite lowering the asking price twice, the Hollywood actor has the problem of selling the luxury property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It all started in February of last year, when Carrey listed the Los Angeles mansion for a whopping $29 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two months later, in April, a minor $2.4 million discount was applied, but no possible purchasers came from the woodwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The California real estate market is currently enduring a dry spell. These multi-million-dollar properties, if originally priced too high, can sit on the market for a long time,” a Los Angeles-based realtor told The Post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carrey himself stated that his choice to sell arises from his changing lifestyle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“For three decades, it’s been a sanctuary for me, but I don’t spend much time there anymore, and I want someone else to enjoy it as much as I did,” Carrey previously told The Post in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carrey previously told the Wall Street Journal that this residence was “a place of enchantment and inspiration” for him over “30 very creative and prosperous years.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Every night the owls sang me lullabies and every morning I sipped my cup of Joe with the hawks and hummingbirds, under a giant grandfather pine,” he told me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The actor’s announcement came amid talk of retirement. In a 2022 interview with Access Hollywood, Carrey alluded at the prospect of retiring from acting entirely, citing a need for a sabbatical until presented with a script of extreme importance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The estate, built in 1951 and last sold in 1994 for $3.8 million, has sumptuous features dispersed across its 2-acre property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a modern ranch-style home with 12,700 square feet of living area, including a big living room with high vaulted ceilings and French doors to the outside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main suite is a haven of luxury, with a tiled fireplace and a private balcony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The property also includes an Art Deco theater, a lit tennis court, a waterfall pool and spa, gardens, and a guesthouse, among other features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
