YouTube said on Thursday that over 100 million users had joined up for YouTube Music and Premium.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to a blog post by Adam Smith, vice president of product management at YouTube, the service is now accessible in more than 100 countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The achievement highlights YouTube’s progress as the biggest streaming platform in the United States, surpassing Netflix and other competitors by a wide margin. The data indicates that many consumers are willing to pay a premium to remove advertisements and gain access to offline downloads, even though the great majority of viewers still watch the experience with commercials. The 2015 introduction of the service received a boost when YouTube combined its own new app, YouTube Music, with the main Premium service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CEO of Alphabet, which owns YouTube and Google, Sundar Pichai, stated on Tuesday that the company’s subscription business has risen steadily and now generates $15 billion in revenue annually. At the time, he said that YouTube Premium and Music had demonstrated “real momentum.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Smith celebrated the services’ advancements on Thursday, highlighting new generative AI research and the addition of features including improved 1080p HD content viewing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The global president of YouTube Music, Lyor Cohen, praised the updated experience of the app, saying it is “unrecognizable from its first launch.” Cohen also highlighted other new capabilities, such as the option to make your own playlists with custom cover art created by generative AI or the opportunity to establish your own radio station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
