Kendrick Lamar has created history with GNX, the longest-running No. 1 album on Billboard’s Top Rap Albums chart.
The award-winning album has led the charts for 22 weeks, succeeding Pop Smoke’s posthumous album, Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon, which was number one for 21 weeks.
GNX won Album of the Year at the 2025 BET Awards and is a top contender for the 2026 Grammys.

When he accepted his prize in June, Lamar said, “I haven’t been here in a long time, but I’ve always had it in my heart. BET always ensures that they are accurately expressing the culture, and they always include me in the cycle of what we represent, which is real, authentic, down-to-earth music that people can feel. So I always put my heart to BET.
The rapper and SZA also had the most successful co-headlining tour in history. Their Grand National Tour has grossed over $256 million, averaging $11.1 million per event, and they have sold a staggering 1.1 million tickets over their home tour.

During their mid-June tour in Maryland, SZA acknowledged her longtime collaborator on stage.
“I assumed it was just a jam session.” [But] he brought me to the most important moment of my life. “This is also the biggest moment of my life,” added the SOS singer, who became tearful. “I’m so thankful, and I’m so thankful to y’all.” Before continuing the show, the two exchanged warm hugs.
Lamar’s GNX debuted two years after Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.
In a February interview with Apple Music, he revealed how GNX was created. “[With] GNX, I thought it was the perfect time because not only had the energy been lost, but there was also energy bubbling within of me. I wanted to refocus on the sharpness and grit of rap. It was an excellent transition from ‘Mr. Morale,’ which was my most intimate. I wanted to delve into my mind and withdrawals to discover how they connect with the public and who may empathize. So, throughout this time, I believe it was important to emerge from that cocoon and feel like, ‘Okay, I’ve arrived. “I can spread my wings and show every aspect of who I am as far as Kendrick Lamar.”
