“That is the reason we recently executed a one-year agreement.”
Rodgers stated that he did not request any additional seasons from the Steelers.

“I have relished the extended period: it has been a rewarding experience.” What better way to conclude than in one of the NFL’s cornerstone institutions, where you are surrounded by a remarkable group of individuals and leadership, including [head coach] Mike Tomlin, in a city that anticipates your success?
Rodgers, who spent his initial 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers, joined the Steelers prior to minicamp after playing for the New York Jets for two years.
Before rupturing his Achilles tendon four plays into his Jets tenure, the 41-year-old had won four MVPs and a Super Bowl title during his illustrious Packers career.
Rodgers returned in 2024 to play all 17 games at the age of 40 in his first season following the injury.

During a turbulent 5-12 Jets season, he completed 63 percent of his passes, accumulating 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Robert Saleh, the head coach, was terminated by the club five games into the season. Additionally, Nathaniel Hackett, the offensive coordinator, was relieved of his play-calling responsibilities, and Joe Douglas, the general manager, was terminated midstream.
The Steelers were patient with Rodgers during his offseason, as he delayed signing until after the OTAs. Aaron Rodgers expressed his gratitude to Tomlin on Wednesday for permitting him to sign at his discretion.
Rodgers expressed his gratitude to Tomlin for his “honest conversations every week,” stating, “I wanted to be in it all, but I had so many other things going on in my life that were taking my mind and energy elsewhere. That’s why I appreciated how Mike was the whole time.” He attended a barbecue and philanthropic event for veteran defensive lineman Cam Heyward, and he also attended Tomlin’s barbecue just before minicamp.
Rodgers stated that the Steelers, in both their historical franchise and current roster, are the appropriate club for his professional finale.
Rodgers stated, “It is not really a matter of ‘Cannot go out like this.'” “It has been a beautiful relationship, and I love the game.” When I was six years old, I was captivated by the idea of becoming a quarterback, participating in the Super Bowl, and winning the Super Bowl.
“This is truly about concluding my career with love, joy, and tranquility.” I have been playing for twenty years.
