A New York court recently ruled a mistrial on Harvey Weinstein’s rape charge after the jury foreperson failed to attend up, making his retrial for sex crimes on Thursday a lucky one.

The spectacle unfolded in a Manhattan courtroom on Thursday when the foreperson vehemently objected to going back to the jury room, saying that he was threatened by the other members. What is it over? We’re not sure yet.

However, in the 2006 case of former production assistant Miriam Haley, who claimed that HW had forced her to have oral sex at his Manhattan home, all 12 jurors found Weinstein guilty on Wednesday of first-degree criminal sexual act.

However, the jury cleared Weinstein of a different case of criminal sexual act in 2006, which was based on identical claims made by model Kaja Sokola.

The third charge, in which aspiring actress Jessica Mann accused Weinstein of raping her in 2013, was not decided upon Wednesday. The judge directed the jury to continue deliberations in order to reach a conviction on that count.

In 2020, Weinstein was found guilty of the charges in New York; however, in April 2024, the judgment was reversed on appeal. The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office declared in September 2024 that he would be retried on the same allegations.

In neither trial did the 73-year-old testify. In both trials, he entered a not guilty plea to the accusations.

After 24 witnesses were summoned throughout the trial, closing arguments were concluded last Wednesday. In their testimonies, Miriam Haley, Kaja Sokola, and Jessica Mann all discussed how Weinstein allegedly sexually assaulted them.

Weinstein was convicted by the jury in the initial NYC trial of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and third-degree rape. On two counts of predatory sexual assault and one count of first-degree rape, however, the jury found him not guilty.

According to reports, Weinstein was requested to testify by prosecutors from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office when the indictment was announced last week. However, we were informed that he declined to do so since the prosecutors would not identify his new accusers.

As a convicted felon, Weinstein is already serving a 16-year prison sentence for the 2013 rape of an actress in Los Angeles.
