Netflix has announced that the $7.99 monthly ad-supported tier of its streaming service has attracted 94 million active users, a significant increase from the 70 million subscribers that were disclosed in November of last year. Netflix currently boasts over 700 million active users.
On Wednesday afternoon, the updated user statistics were disclosed during Upfronts.
“When you contrast us with our competitors, the attention is initiated and terminated at a significantly higher level.” In a statement, President of Advertising Amy Reinhard stated, “And even more impressive, members pay as much attention to mid-roll ads as they do to the shows and the movies themselves.”

Reinhard also disclosed that the ad-supported Netflix tier is home to a greater number of 18-34-year-olds than any other US broadcast or cable network during the presentation. She then addressed advertisers directly, insisting that the Netflix audience is “unique, engaged, and attentive,” and that “a dollar spent on Netflix is more valuable than a dollar spent anywhere else.”

In November 2022, Netflix implemented its ad-supported service. The plan is priced at $7.99 per month, which is $10 less than the lowest ad-free plan, which is priced at $17.99 per month.
