The Icon Award is scheduled to be presented to Janet Jackson at the 2025 American Music Awards.
The accolade will be bestowed upon Jackson in recognition of her cultural and global impact on the music industry. The star will also perform live from the Fontainebleau Las Vegas, marking her first television appearance in seven years.
Jennifer Lopez will serve as the host of the 2025 American Music Awards, which will be broadcast live from coast to coast to begin at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on CBS and streamed on Paramount+ in the United States on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26.
The AMAs, created by Dick Clark and first awarded in 1974, are renowned for delivering half a century of iconic performances, enduring moments that have defined and shaped contemporary culture, and a history of introducing audiences to breakthrough artists.

Following the “American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special” on CBS in October 2024, which was one of the most-watched entertainment specials of the year and received a high rating, the AMAs are returning this year.

The star-studded special, which surpassed 13M in reach and averaged over 6.1M viewers, was the most-streamed AMAs in the show’s history. This represents a +53% increase from the last show in 2022 on ABC, making it the largest year-over-year growth of a music special or award show in the world.

The AMAs will honor our U.S. military and veterans with authentic performances and unforgettable moments this Memorial Day. The AMAs and the Easy Day Foundation, a nonprofit organization based in Las Vegas that is dedicated to assisting Veterans in their transition to civilian life, have formed a partnership to present two performances and a special award that recognizes a prominent talent who utilizes their platform to make significant contributions to the Veteran community. Additionally, the event will include motivational narratives from veterans and active-duty service members.
Dick Clark Productions is the producer of the 2025 American Music Awards, which will be broadcast globally on digital and linear platforms.
