Doug Kiker, also known as “The Singing Garbage Man” on “American Idol,” died of an opiate overdose.

According to a City and County of Denver Medical Examiner’s report acquired by TMZ, Doug died as a result of the combined toxic effects of fentanyl, methadone, and amphetamines, as well as recent cocaine usage — and his death was deemed accidental.

Kiker died last month, according to his brother William and mother Joyce — and his ex-fiancée, Valerie Cook, tells us she is devastated that her children have lost their father.

As TMZ reported in March, law enforcement sources told us that a pedestrian in Denver observed Kiker on the street and phoned 911 because he appeared to be undergoing a heroin overdose. Paramedics arrived and transported Kiker to the hospital, where he died five days later.

Doug’s death was so unexpected and heartbreaking that his sister, Angela Evans, started a GoFundMe campaign to help the family meet memorial expenses.
