Tory Lanez has issued a statement regarding his prison cell being invaded and his audio recording equipment confiscated.

Lanez claims that although his cell was invaded and wrecked, it was not because he learnt how to record his music from behind bars, but because he is assisting other inmates with legal representation through his musical earnings.

Read his statement in full below:

“The rumors were true. “‘The Prison Tapes’ will be discontinued until further notice,” he announced via Instagram. “However, I believe it is critical that my followers understand the reality about the crooked a** sh*t that is actually going on here. My cell was not searched and wrecked because I learned how to record myself in prison or developed “The Prison Tapes.” I was shut down because the ‘HIGHER UPS’ discovered what I was doing with ‘The Prison Tapes’ and how many convicts were being helped in life-changing ways as a result.”

He stated, “Since the first day I was arrested, all I’ve witnessed is blacks and other minorities receiving the most brutal, illegal, and unfair punishment/treatment. For several nights, I begged God to explain his reason for putting me through the rigors of the jail system. I was later shown the purpose. I was imprisoned to suffer, feel, and watch firsthand the anguish and oppression imposed on young black and brown men and women of my generation. I knew I needed to address this injustice. So I decided that when I got to prison, I would figure out how to record music and donate the revenues to the legal counsel of my fellow convicts, giving them a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to return home to their families through appeal and resentencing.”

“Although the ‘HIGHER UPS’ have stopped ‘The Prison Tapes’ temporarily, they were too late to stop my overall plan,” stated the actor. “Since July, I’ve provided legal assistance for 472 detainees and actively reopened 476 cases. Many offenders will be reunited with their family and loved ones thanks to the legal firm “UNITE THE PEOPLE.” I’m calling this the ‘Hands of God Project. Finally, they know I’m a threat, and they don’t want me talking or doing this, so if anything happens to me, know that I went out in a blaze of glory, trying to change the end of a mass incarceration era on our people.

Tory Lanez’s prison cell was recently invaded, and any gadget capable of recording audio was taken, according to TMZ.

According to the publication, Ceasar McDowell, principal deputy on the Canadian star’s legal team, revealed that his client’s recording equipment was taken during a routine raid by prison authorities. He also stated that the California Correctional Institution, where Lanez is housed, has tight laws about inmates owning recording equipment.

In July, the 32-year-old rapper/singer had an epiphany when he “cracked the code” of creating songs from behind bars. With an exciting news for his “Umbrellas” fans, he promised to release new songs every week for as long as he could.

“After about 20-something to 30-something f**k-ups and mistakes, me and my engineer have finally figure out how to record music over the jail phone and still keep the quality as professional as I had it on the street,” he explained to his “Umbrellas” fanbase in an audio message posted to his Instagram.

“It is over. “I cracked the f**king code, man,” he added. “This means that not even the jail gates can prevent me from releasing new music. It’s crazy! That being said, man, I’m about to start throwing scorching heaps of coal on your heads.”

Lanez appears to be making good use of his time away, as he revealed in August that he had completed his GED and enrolled in college.

On Adin Ross’ Kick feed, he stated, “A ni**a just graduated high school and enrolled in college. Never imagined I’d do it. But I’m seizing the moment and taking advantage of everything that’s nice. I’m a fucking high school dropout who recently graduated. That matters to me. So it’s the little things that make me happy about life right now.”

The Chixtape artist is currently serving a ten-year prison sentence for his role in Megan Thee Stallion’s 2020 shooting.

Lanez was found guilty of three offenses in December 2022: assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possession of a concealed and loaded firearm in a vehicle, and discharge of a firearm with gross negligence.

He recently requested a new trial following an affidavit given by his driver, Jauquan Smith, recounting the night of the incident. However, prosecutors refused the document, citing Lanez’s former attorney’s refusal to summon Smith as a witness in court.

According to Smith, he saw Kelsey Harris (Meg’s ex-bestfriend) clutching a gun during the confrontation and Lanez attempting to “disarm” her. Unfortunately, he stated that he did not observe who actually pulled the trigger.
