It has been months since Bally Sports was withdrawn from Comcast Xfinity TV subscription.

Comcast said today that it has secured an agreement to bring Bally Sports RSNs owned by Diamond Sports Group back to Xfinity consumers on August 1st, 2024.

The hitch is that you must be an Xfinity Ultimate TV client to receive this bundle, which makes it more expensive than it was previously. This may need certain Xfinity customers to upgrade to a higher plan in order to watch Bally Sports.

David Preschlack, CEO of Diamond Sports, remarked, “Entering a new carriage agreement with Comcast, our third largest distributor, is a crucial step forward in our restructuring effort, and we are thrilled that fans will once again be able to view broadcasts of their local teams through Xfinity. With our distribution secured, we are concentrating on reaching an arrangement with the NHL and resolving our current conversations with the NBA. We understand that time is of the essence as the basketball and hockey seasons approach, and once agreements with our club and league partners are finalized, we intend to act quickly to offer a plan of reorganization to the Court.”

“We appreciate Diamond Sports working with us to reach a solution that returns the Bally Sports RSNs to our Ultimate TV customers in a way that reflects the changing video marketplace for local sports,” stated Greg Rigdon, Comcast’s President of Content Acquisition. “We look forward to making these networks available on August 1, so customers can enjoy watching their favorite teams again.”

This comes as Bally Sports seeks a route out of bankruptcy. This move with Comcast was required to make a future strategy to exit bankruptcy feasible. Will being on the Unlimited TV bundle be enough to preserve it?
