YouTube has introduced new generative artificial intelligence-powered features for creators worldwide, as well as in the Middle East and North Africa, as the new technology’s popularity soars.
At the Made On YouTube event on Thursday, the video streaming site announced Dream Screen, a new generative AI technology that would allow creators to add AI-generated video or image backgrounds to their Shorts simply by typing an idea into a prompt.
According to YouTube, which is controlled by Google parent Alphabet, the experimental tool will allow producers to “generate new, fantastic settings” for their work.
YouTube is also releasing Aloud, an AI-powered dubbing tool that will allow creators to reach viewers outside of their native tongue. The feature is presently available to select creators and is being tested in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.

“We’re committed to helping creators across the region to thrive on YouTube by helping them to take their creativity to new levels through these AI powered tools which were designed with content creators and their needs in mind,” said Tarek Amin, the director of YouTube in Mena.
In 2012, YouTube debuted its Mena partner program, which let video creators to monetize and grow their businesses. Creators in the region can make money from marketers through six different methods.
According to London firm Public First, the number of YouTube channels earning six figures or more in dollar terms is up 40% year on year through the regional initiative.

YouTube Shorts, a short-form video streaming service introduced in 2020, now gets more than 70 billion daily views globally from about two billion logged-in users per month, the firm announced on Thursday.
YouTube has also been testing early versions of AI-powered tools in YouTube Studio with creators, with more than 70% of those polled saying it has helped them conceive and test video ideas.
YouTube Studio will also allow producers to employ generative AI for video ideas and draft outlines starting next year.
“These insights are personalised for each channel and based on what audiences are already watching and interested in,” it stated.
According to Goldman Sachs, AI adoption is flourishing and could drive a 7% – or over $7 trillion – boost in the global economy and lift productivity growth by 1.5 percentage points over a 10-year timeframe.
Meanwhile, the generative AI market is predicted to rise to $1.3 trillion over the next decade, up from $40 billion in 2022, thanks to tools like Google’s Bard and OpenAI’s ChatGPT, according to a Bloomberg Intelligence research.
