According to Billy Joel, he is feeling “good” despite having a serious brain ailment.

The Piano Man hitmaker said in May that he will be postponing his next tour dates due to normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), a condition that causes fluid to accumulate in the brain and impairs movement and cognitive function.

Billy clarified that his illness was “still being worked on” by medical professionals in an interview with Bill Maher for the Club Random podcast on Monday.

“I feel good. I have terrible balance. He compared it to being on a boat. “I feel good, they keep referring to what I have as a brain disorder, so it sounds a lot worse than what I’m feeling.”

Billy continued by saying that he is unsure of the precise cause of his NPH development.

But he thinks that drinking a lot in the past might have contributed.

The 76-year-old went on to say, “I thought it must be from drinking,” adding that he never longer drinks: “I used to – like a fish.”

Billy had been dealing with “hearing, vision, and balance” problems, according to a press release confirming his decision to postpone his concert tour.

At the time, they stated, “Billy is grateful for the first-rate care he is receiving and is fully committed to prioritizing his health.” “He is grateful for the support from fans during this time and looks forward to the day when he can once again take the stage.”

The singer-songwriter also discussed his two-part documentary, Billy Joel: And So It Goes, with host Bill.

This week marks the HBO premiere of the project.
