One Canadian YouTuber claimed to have purchased a run-down and abandoned house on a distant island, and others have echoed his sentiment.
Earlier this year, YouTuber Matty Clarke revealed that he had spent the last few months cleaning up the place and discovered a number of difficulties.
To call the house a fixer-upper would be an understatement, especially given the YouTuber’s perspective.
The bed was moldy, the roof was leaking, the wooden floors were moist, the paint was flaking, and overall, it wasn’t a project most people would be enthused about.

People in his comments section even mentioned how much of a ‘horror’ the property near Placentia Bay, Newfoundland, was, with some questioning whether it was even worth buying.
Many others, however, were impressed with Clarke’s approach and applauded him for discovering so much damage to the home while also being enthusiastic about identifying the positives and repairing it.
In the video description, he stated, “I purchased an abandoned cottage on a lonely island, far from society. There are no roads or power, just me, the ocean, and the challenge of transforming this forgotten spot into a livable house.
“Over the past half-year, I’ve faced everything from extreme weather to unexpected repairs, all while learning what it takes to survive in isolation.”
Many users even stated that they consider themselves DIY aficionados but would be afraid to try their hand at home projects.
Before Clarke even attempted to begin ‘gutting’, upstairs watchers saw him fix the ceiling, which he said was beginning to sag.
He also stated that he will install a whole new wall in the kitchen to assist avoid future ceiling sag.
He also stated that he would remove all of the flooring to reveal hardwood floor planks, sand them down, and assured that they would look magnificent.

Clarke also addressed one of the most significant issues, roof leaks that eventually stink up the cabin and cause damage to the interior.
While he couldn’t deal with the larger issue of repairing the roof, he did put up a tarp and stated it would at least keep more water out.
While he has stated that there is still more work to be done, he has made significant progress in the last several months.
One commenter wrote, “This is why Canadians are amazing people.” I’m really enjoying this. He is completely prepared for this.
“Even the negative sounds good to him. It’s so refreshing right now. “This will be a lot of fun to watch!!!”
Another person added, “Dude is looking at a cardboard house and saying ‘I love it’. “What a positive guy.”
A third said, “This is the most optimistic, positive, and calm person I’ve ever seen.” The house is a shambles, and he says, ‘This is going to be fun.’ Wow, I think I am in love.”
Another writer stated, “The very definition of ‘one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.'” It’s really endearing to see someone’s enthusiasm blossom. To me, this endeavor is a nightmare; I lack the requisite expertise. For this man, it’s a dream come true.
Clarke was able to demonstrate his development in the video footage, which is undeniably on track.
