After months of speculating, waiting, and wondering, the discussion between Donald Trump and Barack Obama at Jimmy Carter’s funeral has finally been disclosed.
The beginning of 2025 brought with it a number of things, including the promise of the last season of Stranger Things, the threat of a cataclysmic occurrence in Japan, and – maybe one of the most compelling moments – the mystery of what the hell Obama and Trump talked about on January 9th.
Footage of the two leaders went viral after the former president and soon-to-be 27th president sat next to each other during Carter’s burial, where he died at the age of 100 on December 29, 2024.

While Obama and Trump had previously made no effort to conceal their opposing viewpoints, footage from the event showed the two appearing to get along rather well.
The couple could be seen conversing and even laughing together, eliciting a flood of questions and suspicion from spectators.
The revelation was made in a new book called 2024, which was written by political reporters Josh Dawsey, Tyler Pager, and Isaac Arnsdorf.

According to the book, which was cited by the Mail Online, the moment that ignited such interest was Trump’s invitation to Obama to play golf.
The writers allege that Trump invited his predecessor to tee off with him and was ‘enticing him with descriptions’ of the golf clubs he owns around the world – but they did not clarify whether this was the issue that drove the pair to chuckle together.
Though Trump hasn’t revealed what he and Obama discussed, he did say after the funeral that they appeared to be good friends in the clip.
“It did look very friendly, I must say,” the man replied. “I hadn’t realized how friendly it appeared. I saw it on your fantastic network right before I came in, and I thought, ‘Boy, they look like two people who like each other.'”
The new book’s revelation comes after a lip reader earlier attempted to figure out what the two talked about, telling Sky News that Obama said something about making it’soon’, which may correspond to the offer of playing golf together.
However, the lip reader stated Trump said, “I haven’t got a clue.”
“Big, big money,” Obama allegedly responded, adding, “And you’ll always get people leaving their cabin.”
Regarding one instance in which Obama was observed chuckling, Trump reportedly exclaimed, “Can you imagine? We are prepared for a challenging show.”
