The Garfield comic strip was created by cartoonist Jim Davis and premiered in June 1978. It chronicles the cynical and indolent orange cat and his interactions with his owner, Jon Arbuckle, and fellow pet Odie, the affectionate dog.

Garfield first appeared in 41 newspapers, but its success and rapid popularity made it one of the fastest growing comic strips of all time, eventually appearing in 2,580 newspapers and journals and reaching an estimated viewership of 260 million. Garfield is currently the world’s most widely syndicated comic strip.

Pratt is represented by UTA, Rise Management, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern. Jeannette Hill, Executive Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs at Alcon Entertainment, negotiated the agreement on the company’s behalf.
