Wess Roley, 20, has been identified as the man suspected of starting a forest fire and then ambushing firemen in a planned sniper attack in Idaho, according to TMZ.

A law enforcement source told TMZ. Roley’s body was not transferred to the Kootenai County Coroner’s Office in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, because they do not store bodies. Instead, his remains were sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Spokane, Washington, which handles cases from Kootenai County, just across the state line.

Since his identification, a terrifying photo has surfaced, showing Roley staring directly into the camera with a chilling, almost malevolent glare.

Roley allegedly lured firefighters to the burning on Canfield Mountain near Coeur d’Alene, then engaged in a chaotic gun duel with police during a huge manhunt involving over 300 cops. Roley’s body was discovered after they tracked down his cell signal in the woods.

Kootenai County Sheriff Bob Norris verified Roley’s death during the shootout, while it is unknown whether he was killed by police gunfire or committed suicide. There are no autopsy results available just yet.

His motivation remains a mystery.

A third firefighter was shot in the initial incident and is in critical condition.
