During a recent interview, President Donald Trump was tight-lipped regarding the future of TikTok, but he did provide an update on the app, which may be good news for TikTok fans.
TikTok’s future has been uncertain for some time, and it has been a heated topic in the United States.
The issue first arose when the US government approved legislation requiring ByteDance, TikTok’s Chinese parent firm, to sell the platform owing to national security concerns.
The fear was that Beijing might use the app to collect data on American citizens or to influence persons in America.

China has refuted both charges.
Back in April of this year, Trump took to his own social media channel to discuss the progress achieved in selling the platform.
He stated, “My administration has been working really hard on a deal to SAVE TIKTOK, and we have made incredible progress. The Deal requires further work to guarantee that all essential permits are obtained, which is why I am signing an Executive Order to keep TikTok operational for another 75 days.
“We expect to continue working in good faith with China, who, I understand, are dissatisfied with our reciprocal tariffs (which are required for fair and balanced trade between China and the United States!).

“This demonstrates that tariffs are the most potent economic tool and critical to our national security!
“We do not want TikTok to ‘go dark’. We look forward to working with TikTok and China to complete the transaction. Thank you for paying attention to this topic!”
In a fresh interview with Fox News, Trump revealed that additional progress had been made and that the platform has a buyer.
On Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo, Trump stated, “We have a buyer for TikTok, by the way.” I believe I will need China’s approval, and President Xi will most likely grant it.”

Bartiromo asked Trump to explain who had purchased the famous social media company.
He responded, “I’ll inform you in approximately two weeks. They are extremely wealthy, as is the entire group.”
If no agreement is reached by September 17th, the app may be banned again in the United States and removed from app stores.
This could be critical for Trump’s popularity, as he has already stated that he favors the platform because it helped him win a second term, particularly among young voters.
