Brent Hinds, the former guitarist, vocalist, and co-founder of Mastodon, is reportedly not on good terms with his former bandmates.

Hinds’ departure from the band in March caught many supporters off guard. Hinds and the other band members “mutually decided” to part ways after “25 monumental years together,” the group announced in a statement.

“We are profoundly proud of and incredibly appreciative of the music and history we have shared, and we extend our best wishes for success and happiness in his future endeavors,” the statement read, suggesting that the situation was amicable despite Hinds’ departure.

It appears that this was not the case. Hinds directed criticism toward the band in the comments section of its official Instagram page on Wednesday, as reported by Loudwire.

In a post commemorating the 11th anniversary of the group’s album “Once More ‘Round the Sun,” a fan expressed that “‘Halloween’ is definitely my #1 track on this record.” However, I will undoubtedly mourn B. Hinds.

Hinds responded to the comment by stating, “I want [sic] to miss being in a [expletive] band with horrible humans.”

In a March Guitar World interview, guitarist and vocalist Bill Kelliher expressed his admiration for Hinds, stating, “Like a marriage, sometimes people grow apart and they get interested in other things.” Despite the fact that Hinds may be harboring resentment toward the other Mastodon members, Kelliher’s words were kind. We extend our sincerest congratulations to Brent as he pursues his aspirations.

Kelliher, Troy Sanders, and Brann Dailor comprise the group’s present composition. They have not yet identified a permanent replacement for Hinds, and guitarists Ben Eller and Nick Johnston have been contributing to their current tour.
