The main actor for the Snoop Dogg biopic has been identified. The veteran rapper in the forthcoming endeavor will be portrayed by actor Jonathan Daviss.
The Outer Banks star was awarded the role after the studio appointed Craig Brewer as director, according to an exclusive report from Deadline.
The film, which is yet to be named, will be produced by Sara Ramaker, the president of Death Row Pictures, Brian Grazer, and Snoop Dogg.

As he disclosed the information, Daviss posted on Instagram, “Wow, wow, wow.” Snoop Dogg included the phrase “Let’s go nefew!!” in a distinct post. marked with a variety of emoticons. “The time has come.”
The casting was announced by the rapper behind “Sensual Seduction” last year, who expressed his desire for a younger actor to “embodie the spirit” of his younger self. He elaborated, “In reality, I am seeking an actor who can capture the essence of the spirit I experienced when I was that young, rough around the edges, and trying to discover my identity. To me, this individual will be a phenomenal actor.”

According to Deadline, the film will investigate the journey of the West Coast lyricist as he transitioned into the Hip-Hop scene and acquired the stage name Snoop Dogg.

The outlet describes Snoop as “bringing his laid-back drawling delivery and sharp lyrics to Death Row Records, where he collaborated with Dr. Dre on his smash debut album Doggystyle.” He expanded his reach to the extent that he could be observed engaging in conversation with Martha Stewart or swimming alongside Michael Phelps during the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he was one of the highlights of the event on NBC and Peacock.
The film is the inaugural endeavor under Death Row Pictures’ comprehensive agreement with NBCUniversal Entertainment & Studios, as the label transitions to the motion picture industry.
