On Tuesday, Henry Ruggs disclosed publicly for the first time since his incarceration for the tragic 2021 car accident that resulted in the deaths of a woman and her dog. He also acknowledged that he would still “love” to play football once he is released.
At a Hope for Prisoners event in Las Vegas, the former NFL star engaged in a candid conversation with questioners for approximately an hour. The purpose of the event was to motivate current and former inmates in their efforts to effectively reintegrate into society.
Ruggs addressed a variety of subjects during the conversation, such as the circumstances that precipitated the November 2021 tragedy, which had a lasting impact on his life and the lives of numerous others.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Ruggs disclosed to the audience that he had resorted to alcohol in an effort to “escape” the pressures associated with his status as a renowned 20-year-old Raiders player with a multi-million-dollar contract.
He then extended his apologies to the Tina Tintor family for the manner in which his actions contributed to her death, stating that he would be delighted to introduce them to the genuine Henry Ruggs, rather than the one who was fleeing from an unknown situation.
Ruggs appeared to be in excellent health, and when questioned about his football future, he expressed his desire for another opportunity to play in the NFL.

“I am in this newfound spiritual space,” he stated, “and I am confident in my identity and abilities. Therefore, I am certain that I will be prepared when the time comes.”
He further stated that he would be amenable to the possibility of returning to the Raiders.
“I do not believe that I have concluded on terms that are meaningful to me and align with my core values,” he stated. “I am eager to participate in another game, and what better location to do so than the one where I first began?” Additionally, I was the first-ever selection in Las Vegas.
In August 2023, Ruggs, who is now 26 years old, was sentenced to 3-to-10 years in prison for his involvement in the tragic Vegas crash. On Tuesday, the LVRJ announced that he will be eligible for parole in just over a year, on August 6, 2026.
