50 Cent attributes the construction of his G-Unit Film & Television Studios in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Tyler Perry.
After sharing an AI-generated image of the two with the startling statement, “Hey, I think anyone who talks bad about Tyler Perry should die,” the Power developer ignited a debate. We’re all going to die, but you ought to pass away right away!
While longstanding fans of 50’s direct, provocative style weren’t surprised, some fans were taken aback by the message. Although he did not identify a specific victim, the date coincides with the backlash Perry has had after the premiere of his latest movie, Straw, starring Taraji P. Henson.

Despite their prior disagreements, the movie mogul has always treated Henson with the highest regard. They also talked about the potential for future collaboration.

Despite Straw’s strong performance, some critics brought up old allegations that Perry takes advantage of Black pain. For years, that story has accompanied him, frequently running counter to his message of empowerment.
It’s obvious that 50 Cent didn’t want to watch Perry endure that heat by herself. Despite having very different artistic styles—50 focuses on crime and power, while Perry prioritizes faith and family—they have similar fundamental beliefs. In fields where Black storytelling is rarely accepted, both promote ownership, creative autonomy, and unreserved Black storytelling.
Over time, their relationship has been more visible. Perry’s Atlanta studio has been hailed by 50 as a model for Black greatness.

In turn, Perry honors 50’s hegemony in the media, especially through the G-Unit TV conglomerate. They have celebrated each other’s accomplishments, gone to events together, and offered encouragement to one another on social media.
50 intervened in Mo’Nique’s public dispute with Perry in 2022, pleading with him to settle their differences and assist her in regaining her fame. Perry apparently replied favorably to the concept rather than dismissing it. It demonstrated that even in the background, males appreciate openness.

Their partnership demonstrates strategy and cohesion in addition to mutual adoration. Both achieved success outside of the established system, despite criticism and opposition from the industry.
When one is being attacked, the other takes over. 50 and Perry provide a new model in an industry that is sometimes dominated by ego and rivalry: Black creatives supporting one another behind the scenes with genuine power.
