In 1961, just out of high school, Brian cofounded the Beach Boys with his brothers, Carl and Dennis Wilson, Mike Love, and Al Jardine.

The band’s second studio album, “Surfin’ U.S.A.”, earned them a gold record, but their first, “Surfin’ Safari,” didn’t do very well. The album’s title track became an enduring classic.

Following the popularity of “Surfin’ U.S.A.” the band went on to release “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” “Good Vibrations,” and “God Only Knows” before the decade was up, which led to even greater record success.
