Jenny was successful in attracting a significant number of more viewers to the block, as the American Music Awards presentation on CBS on Monday night had the highest viewership since 2019 and was the evening’s top program.

According to Nielsen data, the fan-voted, live awards presentation hosted by Jennifer Lopez drew an average of 4.86 million viewers, a 38% increase over its previous live airing on ABC in 2022.

According to CBS, the American Music Awards drew 36 percent more viewers than NBC’s SNL 50 Years of Music on January 27, 2025 (3.49 million), 52 percent more viewers than ABC’s CMA Fest on June 25, 2024 (3.19 million), and 26 percent more viewers than ABC’s CMA Country Christmas on December 3, 2024 (3.87 million).

According to Nielsen, the awards event also recorded increases in all major demographics when compared to the 2022 broadcast: it was up 16 percent among A25-54, up 23 percent among A18-49, and up 91 percent among A18-34.

After a two-year break, the American Music Awards returned with Lopez at the opulent Fontainebleau resort in Las Vegas, with Billie Eilish leading the winners. The two-time Oscar winner and nine-time Grammy winner won in every one of her seven nominated categories.

Despite having a stellar year and receiving a record ten nominations, Kendrick Lamar only took home one prize—Favorite Hip-Hop Song—for his popular song “Not Like Us.”

This year’s new categories included Social Song of the Year, which Doechii’s “Anxiety” won, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year, both of which Eilish won. All of the winners are listed here.
