Kendrick Lamar’s insult track, “Not Like Us,” has previously won all five of the categories in which it was nominated at the Grammys.
Kendrick Lamar’s complete dominance at awards ceremonies appears to have come to an end after Eminem upset him at the American Music Awards on Monday night. HipHopDX observed that despite five nominations, he was the sole recipient of the Favorite Hip Hop Song award for “Not Like Us.”
Billie Eilish emerged victorious in the categories of Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year, surpassing him in each of these categories. Eminem also defeated Lamar in the categories of Favorite Hip Hop Artist and Favorite Hip Hop Album for The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) within Lamar’s own genre.

Kendrick Lamar and SZA were unsuccessful in their pursuit of a win as a tandem, despite the success of their collaboration, “luther,” and their ongoing Grand National Tour. Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga, on the other hand, were awarded Collaboration of the Year and Favorite Music Video for their popular song, “Die With A Smile.”
Gracie Abrams was awarded New Artist of the Year, Doechii was awarded Social Song of the Year for “Anxiety,” Bruno Mars was named Favorite Male Pop Artist, Post Malone was named Favorite Male Country Artist, and Beyoncé was named Favorite Female Country Artist during the ceremony, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Kendrick Lamar has been on a monumental run over the last year, despite the disappointing night at the American Music Awards. His most recent success, “Not Like Us,” a diss track, became the first rap song to spend 52 consecutive weeks on the Billboard Hot 100. In the midst of his highly publicized dispute with Drake, he released the song. Lamar was also selected as the centerpiece of Super Bowl LIX as a result of the song’s success.
The slander track was the recipient of five Grammy Awards nominations, including Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, and Best Music Video. It emerged victorious in all five categories. Drake even filed a defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group in relation to the song.
