On Tuesday, the Veterans Affairs Department announced that Memorial Day events will be held at over 130 national cemeteries nationwide, with an estimated 100,000 attendees.

“VA plays a critical role in the remembrance and honoring of the brave servicemembers who sacrificed their lives in defense of the freedoms that America values on a daily basis,” stated VA Secretary Doug Collins in a news release.

“This Memorial Day weekend, we cordially invite Americans to visit VA cemeteries and participate in our reflection on the significant legacies of these fallen heroes.”

From Friday to Monday, all 156 national cemeteries and 35 soldiers’ lots of the VA will be accessible.

The National Cemetery Administration’s Facebook and X social media pages will feature videos and photographs of numerous ceremonies that will be transmitted live.

The VA has also published a comprehensive list of National Cemetery Memorial Day events and visiting hours to facilitate the visitation of the nearest cemetery by local residents.

The VA also extends an invitation to the general public to visit the Veterans Legacy Memorial website, where they can peruse submissions that encompass biographies, tributes, photographs, documents, and other pertinent information.

Online visitors are also permitted to submit content to the website.

More than 10 million veterans are interred in national cemeteries, VA grant-funded cemeteries, Department of Defense-managed cemeteries, and private cemeteries.

Veterans who are interred are entitled to receive a VA gravesite marker and other benefits.
