On Sunday, Jessica Simpson’s performance on “American Idol” 2025 left viewers in awe, but not in a positive sense.
During the ABC show’s finale episode over the weekend, the singer was criticized for her first television performance in 15 years.
Simpson, 44, initially collaborated with former contestant Josh King to perform her 2005 hit rendition of Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Are Made for Walking.”
Additionally, she provided viewers with a preview of her forthcoming album, “Blame Me.”

Nevertheless, the former reality star was criticized on social media for her execution. One individual even joked on YouTube, stating, “There were some great performances during this show.” This was not one of them…

It is a no from me, dawg,” stated Randy Jackson, a long-standing judge, according to another source. This does not constitute a recovery.
A third individual commented, “She has never been a good singer,” after initially characterizing her as “horrible.” What an ordeal.
In the interim, a fourth individual attempted to suppress their enthusiasm by composing, “Hmmm, an intriguing selection of performer.” I will simply refrain from speaking.
Simultaneously, some individuals defended the singer by praising the “amazing and unexpected” performance, with one individual stating that Simpson “went off the rails in a positive way.”

A second admirer exclaimed, “The sound is superior to what it was before.”
“I am ecstatic with every aspect of this.” Her most recent compositions are truly exceptional, and she appears to be in excellent health. “I am delighted that she has returned,” suggested a third individual.
Simpson’s rehearsal was documented in an enthusiastic Instagram post on Sunday, in which she hinted at her appearance on “American Idol.”
She has not yet responded to the mixed assessments of her performance or to the announcement that Jamal Roberts was the Season 23 winner, surpassing John Foster and Breanna Nix.
Simpson’s “full force” return to music was reported by Page Six in January, and she has since performed at the Luck Reunion music festival in Spicewood, Texas.
We have been informed that this revival was motivated by her divorce from Eric Johnson, which she disclosed earlier this year.
In July 2014, the former couple exchanged vows and now share custody of three children: daughter Birdie, 6, son Ace, 11, and 13-year-old daughter Maxwell.
