Bluesky has implemented a new test that incorporates a red border around the NBA’s profile image and a “live” callout beneath it, thereby simplifying the process of determining the time of an NBA game.

Bluesky COO Rose Wang announced yesterday that, upon clicking the profile image, users will be directed to the organization’s live event.

Wang states in her post, “We are not ensnaring you in Bluesky.” “We would like you to utilize Bluesky to ascertain the situation.”

Wang quoted an NBA promotional post regarding two games scheduled for last night in the announcement, suggesting that the insignia would have been displayed during them. Bluesky did not promptly respond to The Verge’s email requesting a screenshot of the new indicator and inquiry regarding whether the test will be expanded to include other sports or non-sports-related organizations. Wang verified that the feature will be included in WNBA games, as TechCrunch notes.

Despite the fact that Wang does not explicitly state it, her post appears to be a jab at the numerous agreements that Twitter has made with sports organizations such as the NFL, MLB, NHL, and NBA to stream their content on its platform, rather than connecting to their streams elsewhere. Last month, Wang stated in an interview with SportsPro that Bluesky does not have the resources or desire to enter into partnerships of this nature. However, the new live badge testing demonstrates that the company is not above taking every possible measure to support its growing “Sports Bluesky.”
