According to reports, Sean Kingston was arrested by the federal government on April 10 for not making the $100,000 cash payment required to uphold his release. His legal team argued that he couldn’t afford the cost when he appeared before U.S. District Judge David S. Leibowitz for a brief hearing. A layered bond agreement, consisting of a $500,000 personal surety bond and a $200,000 cash bond, was agreed upon by him. The news comes after a jury convicted him and his mother, Janice Turner, of four charges of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Kingston will be incarcerated until July 11th, when he is sentenced.

Authorities raided one of Sean Kingston’s houses last year, which sparked the legal drama for the musician and his mother. Ariel Mateos, a guy, sued Kingston for allegedly failing to pay for upscale goods, which prompted the raid. Speaking to media outside the raid location, Mateos’ attorney Dennis Carr described Kingston’s purported plan. Carr stated, “He’s got basically a script,” at the time. “He claims to collaborate with Justin Bieber, who clearly puts on a show here. This home is for rent. He doesn’t own it, and he uses his fame to entice others to release things without paying for them, and he never does.
Sean Kingston and his mother were later taken into custody by authorities in relation to a purported plot to swindle high-end sellers of expensive goods like jewelry, cars, and other stuff. A number of purported witnesses testified during the trial. For example, Ariel Mateos said he sold Kingston a $115,000 232-inch screen. Kingston allegedly used fictitious wire transfer receipts to avoid paying him the full amount after he made a $30,000 down payment.
