The 32-year-old “Flowers” artist is preparing to release the project — her inaugural album since 2023’s Endless Summer Vacation — on May 30. On Monday, March 31, she astonished fans with a preview of the song “Prelude.”
The initial tune is eerie and unearthly, featuring Cyrus’s voice over an enigmatic composition.
“It resembles traversing solitude within a vivid dream / Pronouncing your name in a vacant space / Observing my reflection in a mirror / Yearning for recognition, yearning for existence / Yet the beauty discovered in solitude / Is a supplication that desires to be communicated,” Cyrus articulates as the music progresses.
In the accompanying image, she is adorned in archival 1997 Thierry Mugler couture. If it appears recognizable, it is due to her wearing the ethereal ensemble for the album’s cover art as well.

Cyrus co-directed the video with Jacob Bixenman and Brendan Walter. Simultaneously, Benoît Debie oversaw the cinematography.
Something Beautiful will comprise 13 original tracks, with Cyrus serving as the executive producer alongside Shawn Everett. It has been characterized as “audacious” with an emphasis on “visual narrative.”
This follows the significant critical acclaim she garnered for Endless Summer Vacation.
Cyrus secured her inaugural Grammy in February 2024 in the category of Best Pop Solo Performance. The victory was attributed to her song “Flowers,” from the album Endless Summer Vacation. In 2025, she secured her second victory at the esteemed awards presentation when she and Beyoncé triumphed in the Best Country Duo/Group Performance category.
Simultaneously, Cyrus has lately disclosed details on one of her more contentious onstage incidents.
During a discussion with her sister Brandi Cyrus for Spotify’s Billions Club series in November, the singer recounted the origins of her 2009 Teen Choice Awards performance of “Party in the U.S.A.,” which notably featured her dancing on stage with a pole affixed to an ice cream cart.
