Disturbing body cam footage depicts the apprehension of a mother who, according to police, dialed 911 on herself following the suspected fatal stabbing of her 11-year-old son during a stay at a motel in Santa Ana, California, en route to Disneyland.
Examine the video segment… Saritha Ramaraju, 48, approaches officers with their firearms drawn, putting a phone to her ear in a composed manner. While she is restrained, an officer is heard declaring that there is “blood on her hands.”
During the March 19 arrest at approximately 9 AM, she informs Santa Ana police that her son is the sole occupant of their room at the La Quinta Inn, prompting them to investigate. The police report indicates he was discovered deceased with visible stab wounds, allegedly amidst Disneyland memorabilia. The rationale for Ramaraju’s purported decision to murder her son remains ambiguous. According to police reports, they had recently concluded a three-day visit to Disneyland, and she was scheduled to return him to his father, from whom she divorced in 2018, on that day.
Following her hospitalization, Ramaraju was indicted on one felony count of murder, an enhancement for personal weapon use, child endangerment, torture, and aggravated mayhem.
She is presently incarcerated in the Orange County Jail.
