Vice President J. D. Vance stated on Tuesday that the Trump administration’s encouragement of AI and technological advancements should be advantageous to both populists and those who invest in and manage technology companies.
Vance expressed his concern at the Andreessen Horowitz American Dynamism Summit in Washington, D.C., stating, “I believe there is an excessive amount of apprehension that AI will supplant jobs rather than enhancing the vast majority of our current activities.”
Although Vance acknowledged that new technologies could result in the displacement of specific jobs, as was the case with bank tellers when the ATM was devised, he said that history demonstrates that innovation ultimately helps create more engaging, higher-paying jobs.

Vance suggested that the government of the last administration, as well as the government of the past 40 years, has failed each group, including our laborers, the Populists, and the tech optimists.

The Trump administration pledges to provide the technology sector with the autonomy to innovate by refraining from enacting substantial regulations on AI.
The vice president also contended that “rearranging the trade and tariff regime internationally” and reducing immigration would serve as a deterrent to offshoring.

“Cheap labor is fundamentally a crutch, and it is a crutch that deters innovation,” stated Vance. “We are opposed to individuals who are in search of inexpensive labor.” “We desire that they invest and construct in the United States of America.”
