Rihanna hasn’t put out a record since 2016’s Anti for a reason.
A recent interview with Harper’s BAZAAR saw the “Diamonds” singer talk about her much-anticipated ninth studio album. She said that the work she’s done on it so far hasn’t quite hit the mark for her.
“I told them, ‘No, it’s not me.'” It’s not right. It doesn’t grow with me. It doesn’t fit with my growth. This is not possible for me. This is not okay for me. I can’t play this for a year on tour,” Rihanna said about the music that will be on her next album. She also promised that whatever comes out will “matter.”

“I looked at it after a while and thought, ‘This much time away from music needs to count for the next thing everyone hears.'” It needs to matter. It needs to be important.”
In another part of the interview, the “Love on the Brain” star talked about his family and praised his partner A$AP Rocky for being a great dad to their two kids, RZA and Riot, who are already very different from each other.

“RZA just feels things.” He’s such a magic. He really likes music. He likes music. He really likes books. He likes water. Anything: the bath, the pool, the beach, or anything else. Riot, he’s really funny. He starts to squeal and scream when he wakes up. Not in a sad way. “All he wants to do is sing.”
Rihanna is still working on making music that shows how much she’s grown over the last ten years, so she hasn’t set a date for the release of her new record.
