An future edition of ABC News Studios’ “Impact x Nightline” will concentrate on Liam Payne’s death.
“One Direction: Liam Payne’s Final Days” will be available on Hulu on Thursday, October 24. The program, hosted by Juju Chang, will include fresh interviews “with those close to Payne,” including former “X-Factor” competitor Mary Byrne, who describes what it was like to live with Payne and the rest of One Direction while shooting the singing competition series.
The logline for “Liam Payne’s Final Days” is as follows: “Drugs, a trashed hotel room, and a deadly fall: How One Direction’s Liam Payne tragically died.” The boy band singer’s unexpected demise raised fresh concerns about the negative side of fame. “How did the 31-year-old’s bright star fade so dramatically?”
The “Nightline” show will also include interviews with social psychologist Dr. Azadeh Aalai, One Direction fan Natalie Barada, and ABC News contributors Chris Connelly, Kelley Carter, and Megan Ryte.
Payne, 31, died on Oct. 16 after falling three storeys from a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Payne was a key member of the world-famous boy band One Direction, contributing to the group’s chart-topping bubblegum pop classics such as “What Makes You Beautiful,” “Best Song Ever,” “Story of My Life,” and “Night Changes.” Between 2010 and 2016, One Direction sold over 70 million albums globally, making them one of the most successful boy bands in contemporary history.
