Bally Sports, a regional sports network (RSN), was removed from Comcast’s schedule in May of last year.
Bally Sports claims that Comcast intended to switch the network to a more costly subscription. This action might make it impossible for Bally Sports to proceed.
Reports that talks between the two corporations had concluded swiftly followed the news that Comcast had dumped Bally Sports. The parent business of Bally Sports, Diamond Sports Gorup, now stated in a court proceeding today that it anticipates signing a deal with Comcast very soon.
This occurs as Bally Sports has to figure out how to proceed prior to a bankruptcy hearing. Something that many believe will not be feasible in the absence of a Comcast agreement.
According to an ESPN report, Diamond’s attorney Brian Hermann made reference to Diamond’s regional sports networks in court when he stated, “We believe that we have made substantial progress on resolving our issues with Comcast, and we have the intention of fully documenting and executing an agreement with Comcast to broadcast our RSNs in the very near term.”
The MLB, NHL, and NBA expressed their concerns in court last month about Comcast impeding Bally Sports’ efforts to reorganize and emerge from bankruptcy. According to Bloomberg, MLB even went so far as to claim that Comcast’s decision to dump Bally Sports has harmed the league and that Bally Sports has been “an undependable partner.” Due to this, the MLB was compelled to establish a different broadcast option for Comcast users, which involves a temporary deal for cheap Fubo.
According to NHL lawyer Shana Elberg, the league has to know right away what will happen to Bally Sports RSNs. According to the StarTribune, she stated, “We have told the debtors unequivocally that we need to get clarity on certain outstanding matters this week.”

In addition, the NBA lawyer highlighted serious concerns regarding Bally Sports’ future in the event that a deal with Comcast is not struck. Vincent Indelicato stated, “[Bally Sports] may very well not be able to survive without a Comcast deal.” “We just can’t wait much longer” to learn more.
Currently, the questions are whether Bally Sports will meet Comcast’s demands or if Bally Sports can thrive without Comcast.
