Donald Glover has stated why he decided to relinquish his stage name “Childish Gambino”.
The rapper admitted that he no longer found his stage moniker gratifying, stating that he had realized it was simply “done”.
“It was simply like, ‘Oh, it’s done.'” “It’s not fulfilling,” Donald, 40, told The New York Times. “And I just felt like I didn’t need to build in this way anymore.”
He noted that when he first got interested in the music business, he struggled to locate a Black community that shared his interests.

“I remember going to an N.E.R.D. show with my girlfriend and we were the only two Black people there,” Donald told me. “I feel like I was just looking around wondering, ‘Where is everyone?'” “Am I an alien?
Finally, Donald stated that he is uninterested in trying to be the coolest person in the industry and rather to have a genuine connection with his boys, Legend, 8, Drake, 6, and Donald Jr, 4.

“I think grace is undervalued in the world,” he told me. “When I lay my son on my shoulders, I feel overjoyed. That is real. “No one on their deathbed will look back and say, ‘Thank God I avoided being cringe.'”
