Whelp, that changed quickly. The highly anticipated boxing match between Jake Paul and legendary heavyweight former champion Mike Tyson has been postponed due to Tyson’s recent medical concern, or, as some have dubbed it, an emergency.
Take this: Most Valuable Promotions, Paul’s boxing promotion business, issued the formal announcement. Paul voiced his sadness in a video posted on X, stating he was “heartbroken” but still wanted to fight Tyson once he recovered.
According to Ryan Glasspiegel and Matt Ehalt of the New York Post, Tyson, 57, had an ulcer flare-up that brought nausea and dizziness immediately before landing on a trip from Miami to Los Angeles on May 26th. Tyson’s agents have since claimed that the former heavyweight champion is “doing great.” Tyson himself revealed that he is “feeling 100 percent.” The highly anticipated battle, which was scheduled for July 20 at AT&T Stadium, will have a new date announced on June 7. Tyson stated, “I’d like to thank my fans all across the world for their understanding and support during this time. Unfortunately, due to an ulcer flareup, my doctor suggested me to reduce my training for a few weeks in order to relax and recuperate. My body is in better form than it has been since the 1990s, and I plan to resume my regular training routine soon. Jake Paul, this may have bought you some time, but you will eventually be knocked out and out of boxing for good. I appreciate everyone’s patience and am excited to offer a spectacular performance later this year.”
Paul went on to say, “I fully support postponing the event so Mike Tyson has no excuses on fight night.” My supporters know I don’t want to meet Iron Mike at anything less than his best, but make no mistake: when he goes into the ring with me, I’ll be ready to claim my victory with a spectacular finish. Paul vs Tyson will be a fight to remember, and I guarantee to give it my all in this one-of-a-kind battle.”

His only loss came in a split decision versus Tommy Fury.
