NBA icons Dwayne Wade and Carmelo Anthony are promoting Inside Out 2, a new film from Disney and Pixar, in commercials airing during the NBA’s Eastern Conference Finals on ESPN and ABC.
The spots delve into the thoughts of Wade, who has three NBA championship rings, and Melo, who has none.
Wade and Anthony experience some of their emotions in the spots, just like Riley, the protagonist character in Inside Out, does in the film.
“This initiative defines the relationship between athletics and entertainment. To delve inside the heads of famous NBA players in the beloved Inside Out universe demonstrates to fans that even the biggest stars share our deepest feelings, according to Carrie Brzezinski-Hsu, senior VP of ESPN Creative Studio.

The commercials were produced by Disney Advertising, Disney CreativeWorks, Disney Studios, and ESPN Creative Studio.
The spot’s production required very advanced special effects, which were achieved by combining Unreal Engine software with The Volume stage technology to compute and show a 3D scene that could move and react to actor and camera movements in live-action scenarios.
Inside Out 2 will open in theaters on June 14.
