Dead & Company, which includes former Grateful Dead founder Bob Weir and guitarist John Mayer, has announced a forthcoming residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas.
Dead & Company, which includes former Grateful Dead founding member Bob Weir and guitarist John Mayer, will return to the Las Vegas Sphere this May for a 14-show residency following U2’s 40-show engagement that ended in March.
While representatives from the Sphere and Dead & Company have yet to reply to media inquiries, the agreement is anticipated to be officially revealed this week — but the band has already confirmed the news on social media.
The $2.3 billion facility, which is a spin-off of Madison Square Garden and opened in April, has been looking for a long-running act to follow U2’s stellar run as the Sphere’s first performance.

Dead & Company’s highly awaited return comes after their previous gig in July at San Francisco’s Oracle Park, which was touted as the penultimate stop of their farewell tour. “In 2023, Dead & Company will embark on their final tour.” “But there are other ways to keep the music going,” the band teases on Instagram. “And it’s gonna be a ball.”
Mayer had hinted at a prospective Sphere residency during an interview on CNN’s New Year’s Eve Show, and Weir and the group’s other elderly rockers appreciate the concept because it eliminates the need for travel.
James Dolan, the owner of the Knicks and Rangers, as well as MSG and the Sphere, has also confirmed that the psychedelic cult-classic band Phish will perform at the Sphere for four nights in April. According to sources, Dolan has been in talks with other musicians, including Beyonce, about performing at the facility.
The Sphere is built on ground rented by Dolan from the adjacent Venetian, which also erected a new venue last year: The Voltaire, a smaller concert hall. Christina Aguilera is now performing at the arena as part of a residency that began in December and will run until March.
