The battlement-mounted air raid siren is a popular tradition at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena.

The siren is played before every home game and has contributed to numerous Golden Knights victories. The Golden Knights were one game away from capturing their first Stanley Cup Finals on June 13. They had previously gone close, reaching the Stanley Cup Finals in their inaugural season in 2018.

The Golden Knights had trounced the Florida Panthers, whose Cinderella run had gotten them to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 1996. The Panthers were simply outgunned and outmatched, with only a 3-2 overtime victory in Game 3 to show for it. However, the Golden Knights had outscored the Panthers 17-9 overall. In Games 1 and 2, the scores were 5-2 and 7-2, respectively. It was more proof of Las Vegas’s transformation into a sports powerhouse in recent years. However, Vegas now has a new hero.

50 Cent, whose Sire Spirits brand has a partnership with T-Mobile Arena, was selected to sound the siren before Game 5. The rapper, dressed in a Golden Knights jersey and cap, sounded the siren in front of a sold-out audience of almost 17,000 people. 50 then retired to his luxury box to watch the remainder of the game. The rapper recently settled a lawsuit alleging design theft on his Sire Spirits brand’s bottles. However, the settlement struck on June 1 will apparently stay confidential.

The siren seemed to work its magic as the Golden Knights destroyed the Panthers 9-3. The Golden Knights lead 6-1 after two periods. The game now has the third-highest margin of victory in a Stanley Cup Finals game. There have been six other Stanley Cup Finals with a 6-goal margin. Furthermore, there have been five games with a seven-goal margin and one with an eight-goal margin. Many have lauded 50 as the team’s good luck charm, blaming his siren call for the loss. It is Las Vegas’ second major championship, following the WNBA Championship won by the Las Vegas Aces in 2022.
